harimad--i haven't been tracking thatbrownhouse comments in lj either...i'm glad they have syndicated accounts, but i think the way they are handled still needs some fine tuning...please feel free to comment here (you are approved now!)

beth--here's what i learned about the gas/duel-fuel stoves: the old gas stoves (like the wedgewood in the house) have multiple pilot lights running constantly and therefore should be directly vented. some folks retrofit their old gas stoves to have electric igniters (like modern gas stoves) so that they do not need to be vented when not in use. i also realized that during our previous conversation about gas stoves i was grouping together gas stoves with electric igniters and duel-fuel (gas burners, electric oven) stoves...so the constantly running gas why we're stuck with the ugly pipe (at least for now) and you don't need one...soooooo, i'm thinking of spray painting it, but i'm not sure if that will make it more or less ugly...i wish it was in a straight line.

Try Sears. I'm not sure the one near you sells that stuff, you may have to go up to Hilltop. That's where we got our range hood.
